     Volleyball Rules

I.   Players

    A. No more then six players can be on the court at one time.

     B. Extra players can rotate in on the serve. You must play All participants in a regular rotation or every 5 points.

    C. At least four (4) roster players need to be present, or a forfeit will be declared.

II.   Starting The Game

    A. A coin flip will determine service rights and choice of side.

     B. Losing team will start service thereafter

     C. Teams rotate sides after each game; coaches and refs make sure teams shake hands between games.

     D. Practice games Will be played if a forfeit occurs, the ref WILL still work forfeit games.

III.   Serving

     A. No foot fouls will be called. 3rd and 4th grade players can move up (halfway to the net). They may move up, only if they can't get the ball over the net.  (Encourage the kids to stay behind the line). 5th and 6th graders MUST serve from behind the back line.

      B. 5 Serve Rule: Five points maximum per server, the serve then rotates to the next server. (The team does not lose the possession of the ball, the team just rotates).

      C. Servers must call out the score of the game each serve. There will be no penalty if the server forgets, but try to encourage calling the score.

IV.   Game Play

      A. Games will be played to 25 points, however teams must win by two (2) points.

       B. Playtime will consist of 50 minutes. Only the first three games will count in the standings for the 5th/6th graders, four games will count for the 3rd/4th graders (if time permits).

      C. If time expires in the middle of the second or third game, the team that is ahead will win, if tied sudden death will occur.

      D. Refs: Call "carries" and "net" violations that are flagrant. Consider the level of play.

      E. It is illegal to "catch' and "throw" the ball. Side out will be called.

      F. Line will be called in. (if the ball lands on the line, it is in).

      G. The ball remains "live" as long as it stays on the same side of the net, even if the ball touches any obstructions, including: ceiling, basketball hoops, side divider, etc.

      H. Replay: Ball stuck in the side divider with hits remaining or if another ball comes into the court will be called a replay.

      I. Players must bump the ball on the serve; You CANNOT set a serve!
